Mr. Kuro!

Thu Aug 7, 2008, 8:09 AM
You may ask, "What? Who's Mr. Kuro?"
My reply, "Kuro is the name that I've given this poor wild dove with a broken wing. My older brother found it standing on the corner just in front of our apartment building. With awe, he took it and brought into our house. We're taking care of it now. I just realized yesterday that it had already taken a part in my heart, as a pet :)

My family and I went to a park yesterday afternoon, and we decided to let it go. I took it out of its box and put it on the grass. It walked away with its quick feet, and my brother watched it for a bit. When he lost track of it, a feeling of sadness came to us. I know, since we all seemed to have missed it much for only a few minutes. Even when we were already having our dinner, my mom would keep saying, "Let's check if he's back--in its box."

My dad eventually looked for it as well, and found it just standing by the bushes. Ah! What a feeling of relief. Since it seemed to have shown itself, we took Kuro back. On our way home, my parents even bought bird seeds for it, since we only fed it rice and water before XD But I hope it'll grow healthier now ^^

We will eventually let it go someday... and I know I'll feel sad about him leaving. He gets annoying sometimes, pecking on my hand when I just want to pet it XD

Oops! Here's the update!
My parents brought it to the Humane Society about two weeks ago, and I asked my mom about what's gonna happen with it. She said that the Humane Society's going to send it to the wildlife... That's all the information I got. I don't know what's going to happen to him -___- but I hope that God will continue to take care of it for us ^___^

:aww: You and your family sound so kind and caring. At least this dove now has a fighting chance.

A wonderful kind thing you've done, sweetie.

:)Thank you. I really hope it'll get better soon, so that we can let it go. We'll probably bring it to a vet ^^
And yep ^^ Thank you again Sarah!

I remember rescuing a pigeon that was walking around on the sidewalk, in the city where I used to live. It was obviously hurt, so I picked it up and took it home. It wasn't injured badly, though, just stunned--I think it was probably hit a glancing blow by a car. Once it started feeling better, I let it go and it flew away. It was only a city pigeon that most people would say is a pest, but I felt sorry for it. :D

If the dove's wing is broken, it will need veterinary care. Maybe they can set the bones and put on a cast or bandage so the wing can heal and the dove will be able to fly. Good luck!

Oh, thank you for sharing your story with me ^^ I'm sure the pigeon was thankful for your kindness and consideration. May God reward you for that.

Mmmm... I actually forgot to update this journal. The pigeon was already given to the Humane Society, about two weeks ago, and I heard that they will send it to the "wildlife".
